Questions
Which test do I take, 2008 or 2025?+

It depends on when you filed your Form N-400. USCIS gives the 2025 test to people who filed on or after October 20, 2025, and the 2008 test to people who filed before. Herelo teaches the 2025 test. Check USCIS's test updates if you are not sure.

Where do the questions come from?+

From USCIS's list of the 128 civics questions and answers for the 2025 test (form M-1778), word for word. For the answers that change with elections, such as the President's name, Herelo shows the names on USCIS's test updates page.

Who writes Herelo's notes?+

We do. They are Herelo's own words, written and checked with AI: several AI reviewers compare each note with USCIS's answers, USCIS's study guide and the Constitution. No teacher reviewed them and they don't come from USCIS. When a check left a doubt, the question has no note and you see only USCIS's answers. At your interview, USCIS's answers are what count.

What is the 65/20 test?+

If you are 65 or older and have been a permanent resident for 20 years or more, USCIS lets you study only the 20 questions marked with a star. Choose it in Settings › Your test.

Why does Herelo ask for my state?+

Four questions depend on where you live: your senators, your representative, your governor and your state's capital. Herelo gives you a link to look each one up and a place to write your answer. Your state stays on your iPhone.

Does the microphone send my voice anywhere?+

No. Herelo turns what you say into words on your iPhone, and nothing is recorded or sent. If your iPhone can't do this on the device, the microphone stays off and you answer out loud or type.

I found a mistake+

Thank you. Tap the flag next to the question or the note: Mail opens with an email to us already written. We never change USCIS's questions or answers, because they are what the officer asks; we fix our notes.

Where is my data?+

Your progress is only on your iPhone: no account, and no copy with us. The app sends only anonymous usage counts, which you can switch off in Settings › Share anonymous usage. Details in the privacy policy.
