Your progress stays on your iPhone.

Last updated 20 October 2026 · Applies to Herelo by Ludyem AS.

Herelo is an app by Ludyem AS (Oslo, Norway) for preparing the civics test of the U.S. naturalization interview.

We don't collect personal data. Herelo has no accounts, no advertising, and doesn't track you.

What stays on your iPhone. Your progress (your answers, stamps, review list, bookmarks, practice tests and interview rounds) and your settings (your test, your state, the interview voice, the reminder time) are stored only on your device. So are the answers you write down for your state's questions. We never receive them or share them. Deleting the app deletes them.

The microphone. When you tap the microphone, Herelo listens to your answer and turns it into words. iOS asks you first for the microphone and for speech recognition. The recognition runs on your iPhone: what you say is never recorded, kept or sent, and the words are forgotten when the next question starts. If you say no, you can still type or answer out loud.

The daily reminder. If you turn it on, iOS asks you first for notifications. The reminder is set on your iPhone; nothing is sent to us.

Anonymous usage counts. To see how Herelo is used, the app sends a few anonymous counts to AppGlance, our own analytics service: when the app is opened and for how long, and steps like finishing the introduction, opening "Report a problem" and asking iOS for a rating. With them go an ID made by the app, the app and iOS versions and your region setting. Never your answers, your state, your progress or what you say; the ID isn't linked to your name or used for tracking. AppGlance keeps the events for at most a year. You can switch them off in Settings › Share anonymous usage. AppGlance's privacy policy.

Report a problem. It opens your Mail app with an email to us already written (the question number and the app version). You send it: we receive only what you send, with your email address, and use it only to reply and fix the app. If you want us to delete your email, tell us.

Links. To look up your senators, your representative, your governor or your state's capital, Herelo opens USA.gov or House.gov in your browser. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

The questions. The 128 civics questions and their answers are published by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a work of the U.S. government. Herelo is an independent app, not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency. Herelo's notes on the questions are our own, written and checked with AI against USCIS's study guide and the founding texts.

Children. Herelo is for adults preparing for their naturalization interview. It collects no personal data from anyone, only the anonymous counts described above.
